Australia Travel Declaration

From November 2020, all travellers entering Australia are required to complete the Australia Travel Declaration.  The Australian government implements this new measure as part of its efforts to protect the health and safety of the Australian community.  The information collected through the declaration will assist the Australian Government to determine your quarantine arrangements (if required) and also allow the relevant health department to contact you if someone you travelled with tests positive for Covid-19.

What information is required for the Australia Travel Declaration?

You will need to provide your contact details in Australia, flight details, quarantine requirements and your health status.  You should complete the Australia Travel Declaration at least 72 hours before you travel into Australia.  You will be asked to present your declaration before boarding your flight and on arrival in Australia.  If you do not complete the declaration, you may not be able to board your flight, or you may experience delays when you arrive in Australia.

Who is required to make Australia Travel Declaration?

Currently, only travellers from New Zealand and travellers on Australian Government’s facilitated flights are required to make the declaration.  It is expected that the declaration will be compulsory for all travellers at a later date when Australia’s borders are open to other international travellers.

How do you make the Australia Travel Declaration?

You will need to have the following information ready:

  • passport details;
  • trip information;
  • destination details; and
  • contact details.

You will then need to create an account here to submit your Australia Travel Declaration.  The same account will be used to manage your current and future declarations.  It is important to note that each declaration is for single use and only valid for one flight or journey for the traveller named on the declaration.  If you are travelling with your family or in a group, you will need to make individual declarations for each traveller in the group.  However, parents should complete a declaration for any child under 15 years of age.

Upon completion, you will receive an email to be shown (either printed or electronically) before boarding your flight and on arrival in Australia.  There is no fee payable for submitting the declaration.
